Is a "First Look" Right for You? Here Are 5 Reasons to Consider It...

Have you ever heard people say that it's "bad luck" to see the bride before she walks down the aisle?

Well, I'm hoping to debunk that ages-old superstition for you.

Enter: the first look. Gone are the days of going into hiding until the time comes to walk to the altar. Today, you have so many more options for how your day will run.

Luckily, you can make your nuptials the most unique & authentic version of you two as a couple. No more cookie cutter wedding days!

5 Reasons to Consider a First Look

Take into consideration these 5 points when deciding whether or not to work it into your big day:

1. True uninterrupted time together

After the ceremony is when portraits are traditionally taken, but the big difference is that then, everyone will want to celebrate with you as well! Instead of feeling rushed to get back to cocktail hour, turn to the first look. We'll build in (up to) a full hour of time to actually do the first look and then portraits...when you're feeling relaxed, refreshed and excited.

2. Get the jitters out

No matter how long you've been dating, engaged, etc...wedding day jitters are real! Instead of feeling them all the way up until ceremony time, knock them out of the way with the first look. This goes back to feeling relaxed (as stated above) and then having the whole rest of the day to purely enjoy together.

3. It will not ruin the emotion of the aisle

Nothing can rain on that parade. It almost elevates it - you've already seen each other, gotten the nerves out of the way, and now you can fully live in the moment. You're getting married! Walking down the aisle will always be filled with emotions, first look or not.

4. Wedding party photos

Ticking off even more photo groupings before the ceremony? Yes, that’s right! The first look opens up so many doors. With the right time management, we can get all bridal party photos done right after your first look & portrait session so that after the ceremony, all you have left to worry about is family photos (but not actually worry, because I got you). You want to celebrate your newlywed status with your friends and fam! This option allows you to spend much more time with them all at cocktail hour.

5. More time together

That's what it's all about, right? Yes, this is basically the same as number one, but it's a big one. Let's create that space for you two to soak it all in together (and make epic images to preserve the day, while we're at it).

Will you do a first look, or keep with tradition? There’s no wrong answer!
