1. The Isle of Skye

The isle is truly iconic, and it’s very hard to put the beauty into words - rugged, wild, and romantic just scratch the surface. 2. Glencoe

Think rugged beauty and dramatic mountain landscapes. Waterfalls, lochs and hiking trails are plentiful - making this the perfect spot for your adventurous elopement day in the highlands of Scotland. It’s no wonder that this area has been featured in so many films! James Bond, Harry Potter, etc etc.

Location highlights:

BONUS: Harry Potter fans - definitely go out of your way (about an hour drive) to visit the Glenfinnan Viaduct for an epic photo op. Just don’t forget to check the train schedule first!

3. Edinburgh

Location highlights:

  • Vennel Steps - one of the loveliest views of Edinburgh castle!

  • Royal Mile / Grassmarket area - wander your way through cobblestone streets and mosey down the closes (alleys) to find your ideal elopement location in Old Town. So much charm around every corner.

  • Calton Hill - some of the very best views of the city make this a perfect Edinburgh ceremony spot.

  • Holyrood Park - a beautiful green oasis within the city. Climb to the top of Arthur’s Seat for some epic views, visit Saint Anthony's Chapel Ruins & more.

  • Dean Village + Circus Lane - two famous settings that feel like hidden gems right within the city.

4. Torridon & Wester Ross

Part of the North Coast 500, Wester Ross boasts wild, jaw-dropping landscapes that are far less touristy than Skye or Glencoe.

Location highlights:

  • En route to Torridon, drive the famous Bealach na Bà and stop for a photo op

  • Stay at the Torridon Resort

  • Explore Loch Torridon, Loch Clair & Loch Coulin

  • Hike the surrounding mountains, or say your vows in the shadow of the epic Slioch beside Loch Maree

5. The Inner & Outer Hebrides

Technically Skye is a part of the Inner Hebrides, but since it was in a category all its own, let’s touch on the other isles that are equally (if not more) stunning.

Location highlights:

  • Isle of Mull - visit the colorful village of Tobermory, view Duart Castle, explore the wild green hills and beaches with a relaxing trek, and grab a bite at the Isle of Mull Cheese Shop’s adorable plant-filled café.

  • Isle of Kerrera - tiny isle right off the coast in Oban. Walk or cycle out to Gylen Castle (there are no cars on the island), and have tea & sweets at the lovely Kerrera Tea Garden. Stay in Oban overnight. This is a personal favorite!

  • Isles of Lewis & Harris - think pristine coastline paired with heaps of history. Ferry into Stornoway and drive around the remote landscapes. The Calanais Standing Stones & Gearrannan Blackhouse Village are highlights on Lewis. Harris beaches boast caribbean blue-like water - check out Luskentyre Beach for an elopement setting that feels uniquely…not like Scotland, in Scotland.

  • Isle of Islay - visit the ruins of Dunyvaig Castle, sip whiskey at the famous Lagavulin Distillery.

Bonus:

Loch Lomond & The Trossachs

Hike Ben A’an for epic views up above Loch Katrine, or Conic Hill looking down on Loch Lomond.
